Two robbers, Charles and Emily, run into an alley and crouch behind a dumpster. Emily is light-headed and sits down on the ground, knowing she has been shot, but Charles doesn’t realize it and thinks she is just out of breath.

CHARLES
You gonna be able to hang in there?

EMILY
(breathing heavily for a couple seconds)..Yea. I’ll be fine.

CHARLES
Ok, so if we can make it to that fire escape…

(Emily puts her hand in her shirt and pulls it out, and sees that the wound is worse than she thought.)

CHARLES (continuing in background)
…we should be able to climb up to the roof and

EMILY
(Breathy, mumbling) Ugh, fuck, Charles.

CHARLES
Oh shit, Emily! I didn’t think they got you!

EMILY
No, no, no, I’ll be fine, really. Now what about the fire thing? (grabs side in pain)

CHARLES
(hesitates and is worried) …uh, the fire escape over there. We, um…Emily are you sure you’re OK? It’s just that, that’s a lot of blood.

EMILY

(gets up from the ground) We don’t really have a choice, Charles. I kinda gotta be OK. (almost falls to the ground in pain again, but stops herself and walks toward fire escape) Now stop being a pussy. Let’s go.
